Setting up Physical Gift Cards on your Storefront
Get started with physical gift cards by offering them for sale on your Shopify storefront.
First, go to Apps –> Gift Card Pro –> Physical Gift Cards.
Add required fields:
- Enter Valid Return Address and Logo – as we handle the shipping of the physical gift cards a Return Address and Logo are required to complete the information required for the sending. The dimension and format requirements are listed on the app dashboard (Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG / Image dimensions must be exactly 600px x 300px (2in x 1in at 300dpi)).
- Upload Required Gift Card Images – these images cover 4 different surface areas of the greeting card deliverable: the Interior Top, the Interior Bottom, the Back, and the Front (which is selectable by customers on the storefront).
The dimensions for all 4 surface areas are listed on the app dashboard.
For the Interior Top, Interior Bottom, and Back, the dimensions and formats are the same: Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG / Image dimensions must be exactly 2100px x 1538px (7in x 5.125in at 300dpi).
Once complete, you can see a quick preview on the right hand side:
For the Front, add your Categories and then Upload the images that you would like to make selectable by your customers in each category. Each file should be a maximum size of 0.5 MB, and either .jpg, .png, or .gif file extension. Image dimensions must be exactly 2100px x 1538px (7in x 5.125in at 300dpi). - Upload Required Printed Gift Card Images – these two images apply to the front and back of the plastic gift card – which is glued to the inside of the greeting card.
The dimensions are listed on the app dashboard:
You have now set up all required fields. You can now enable the physical gift cards on your storefront – which will load alongside your chosen storefront layout. To adjust this, please go to Global Settings on the app home dashboard.
Configure Other Options:
- Add your Physical Gift Card price options. These are different than the prices that you offer your customers purchasing Digital Gift Cards – though you can set up the exact same amounts if you wish. Go to Physical Gift Cards –> Gift Cards –> and you will see this option:
- Add you Physical Gift Card Delivery Surcharges. Physical Gift Cards cost money to send, and each one is paid for by you, the merchant, when it is ordered. This is why we have given you the option to pass this extra cost onto the ordering customer by adding a Gift Card Delivery Surcharge.
If the Print on Demand Pricing quoted to you is $4.25, then you will need to charge the customer a minimum of $4.25 for this service. You can also charge higher than this amount, say $10. If you do this, you will be increase your margin for the service.
This is completely up to you, the merchant, in terms of how you would like to price this service: - Gift Card Encoding. Choose your encoding format for your gift cards – there are 3 options here:
- Choose to enable Bulk / Video Message options. Finally, on the bottom of the Physical Gift Cards –> Gift Card tab, you can simply choose to enable / disable Bulk and Video Message options. The video message is ultimately seen by the recipient by scanning a QR code printed on the physical gift card deliverable that they can then watch on their phone.
